Project Mission

The Carrboro Elementary School Park Project is currently a group of committed parents associated with the Carrboro Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) whose focus is to lead a comprehensive and collaborative renovation project of the school grounds. - - Our neighborhood school is fortunate to have almost 18 acres of land in central Carrboro. - These grounds are designated as a community park by the Town of Carrboro. - Thus, there exists a unique opportunity to develop a park with rich outdoor opportunities for physical activity, outdoor education and natural areas for the entire community to enjoy.

You are cordially invited to a Dedication Celebration on Friday, February 23rd at 3:00pm at Carrboro Elementary School Please join us at the climbing wall dragon to pay tribute to the special children whose letters to the Cartoon Network's Rescue Recess campaign earned Carrboro Elementary a $5,000 grant. They will be honored with a commemorative plaque remembering their efforts. We will also recognize all those who made the climbing wall possible.

Cartoon Network Rescue Recess Grant

Carrboro Elementary Letter Writing Campaign Wins School 5,000$ from Cartoon Network's Rescue Recess program. Students at Carrboro wrote the most letters in the whole state and won this grant for use improving our playground. Great work Kids and PTA parent organizers! This story has been getting a good deal of attention in the area media.

Preliminary Plans for the funds lean towards a short climbing wall - As always, suggestions and volunteer help is most welcome! This Fall we will be making a big push on the project - Volunteers, funds and ideas are needed!
